Friday Elective Curriculum

To finish the week on a positive note, Friday afternoons at ACE Tiverton are dedicated to our Friday Electives programme. This is a time when students step outside their usual learning families and join peers from across the school to explore new interests and develop wider skills.

At the start of each half term, students choose from a range of elective activities - these might extend elements of the curriculum or introduce completely new and exciting opportunities. Whether it’s a creative workshop, a practical skill, or a team challenge, our electives are designed to enrich learning and promote personal growth.

The wider benefits of our Friday Electives include:

Enhanced Confidence
Taking part in electives gives students the chance to succeed in new areas and discover talents beyond the classroom. Achieving success in these activities builds self-belief, pride, and a stronger sense of accomplishment.

Personal Growth and Self-Understanding
Many electives involve trying something new or working in different ways. These experiences help students recognise their strengths, develop strategies that work best for them, and feel proud of their progress. They encourage flexibility, problem-solving, and a sense of achievement through personal discovery.

Relationships
Electives bring together students with shared interests from across the school. These mixed groups encourage new friendships, teamwork, and a stronger sense of community and belonging.

Social and Emotional Intelligence
Working collaboratively in varied settings helps students to develop empathy, communication, and problem-solving skills. These experiences nurture emotional understanding and prepare students for positive interactions in everyday life.
